Basic Watercolor Classes In Southeast Michigan

Want to learn how to use watercolor paints?  Then sign up for our four week course and get an introduction to a basic knowledge in watercolor painting.  The cost of the class is $125 per person which includes a 48 color watercolor pan set that comes with three brushes and we supply paper for the duration of the classes.

The watercolors class at Do Art Here covers how to mix your paints with water to get values and how to mix colors to get the fullest range from your pan set.  Topics for beginners will be instruction in setting up a color sample swatches of your color sets, paper choice, surface prep, sketching concepts, fluid masking, washes, and line work.  Learn the causes of paper ragging and how to avoid it and also how to fix other small mistakes that may come up as you work.

By the end of the class you will have a better understanding of how watercolor paints work and how to start using them to create art at on your own.  The classes cover a series of small skill building exercises that help you work on developing techniques to do more complicated watercolor artwork and become a better painter in general. The first two classes cover concepts and build on those by practicing exercises while the third and fourth class use those skills to paint a few small watercolor paintings. The small paintings will focus on a process of techniques to achieve a flowing watercolors look and feel.

Classes are in person at the Do Art Here studio and limited to 20 or less to make sure that you get the most out of the experience. The basics class will build a skill set that will lead into the next intermediate watercolors class.
